Long a waypoint in the history of American development and now enveloped by the pressures of modern suburbia, Fallsington has become...
...the village that time forgot
Nestled in the southeastern corner of Pennsylvania, just north of Philadelphia and near the "falls" of the Delaware River, the historic village of Fallsington is an enduring community in the heart of Lower Bucks County. Beginning in the early 1950s when the threat of development in the adjacent Levittown and Fairless Hills areas was imminent, a group of concerned citizens organized together to work with local officials to protect the heritage of the Village. They formed Historic Fallsington, Inc. in 1953 and remain stewards of the 6 historic buildings and thousands of unique artifacts entrusted to our care. Before and since then, the Village has retained much of its historic character from its early days as a seat of Quaker life, worship, and commerce through to its more recent history in the 21st century.
Fallsington is a living community of 17th through 21st century homes of varying architectural styles and a small number of other buildings that represents the growth of its population and boundaries over the centuries. Historic houses of worship of various denominations, small-scale commercial structures, and residential buildings have been restored and intrusive development has been stayed. The historic village is important today not because it was the site of world-shaking events or the home of especially famous people but because of the inspiring people that have lived and worked here over the centuries and continue to join together for its continued preservation.
We urge you to visit us- Stand in Meetinghouse Square and gaze at a landscape largely unchanged for centuries; Join one of our guided tours of 3 of the historic buildings preserved and protected by Historic Fallsington to learn about some of those people of the past and how they lived; Experience the graceful way in which this small, unspoiled spot complements the surrounding communities.
